Abstract

  1. Customers may experience multiple warmstarts and dual IML, when restoring or recalling data from TS7700
  2. Customers may encounter data loss restoring or recalling data from any type of Cloud storage.

Description

  1. Risk category: Loss of Access
    When restoring or recalling data from TS7700, if the data set spans multiple PPRC (GM or MM) volumes on DS8900F/DS8880, the DS8000 will warmstart multiple times, leading to a dual-cluster Initial Microcode Load (IML). Access to the affected DS8000 will be lost until IML is completed.  
    Other cloud storage types are not affected.
  2. Risk category: Loss of Data
    Cloud migration over a degraded network connection, may expose a timing window where the object was not migrated, but the operation completed with good status.

Install the appropriate fix bundle(s)
DS8880: R8.5 SP10.2 - 88.59.28.0 or newer
DS8900: R9.2 SP1.4 - 89.21.34.0 or newer
