Abstract
A problem has been found where TS7700 running R5.2 Phase 1 (8.52.100.32) level of code or above may experience incompatibility when trying to perform copy export recovery from R4.1 Phase 1 (8.41.10x.x) and older.
Description
With each new release of TS7700 code, internal software components are being updated appropriately to stay current for support, as well as performance and security.
In order to stay compatible with data cartridges written through copy export, many different levels of internal database instances need to be maintained, resulting in increasingly large code footprint.

As part of the R5.2 Phase 1 (8.52.100.32) development phase, support for internal database compatibility has been restricted to code level R4.1 Phase 2 (8.41.200.x) and above.
For that reason, any attempt to perform copy export recovery from volumes created through copy export on older TS7700 code does not work.
Recommended Action
Data written through copy export on code level R4.1 Phase 1 (8.41.10x.x) and older needs to be rewritten with a later code level such as current minimum code level R5.0 PGA2 (8.50.2.6).
Alternatively, systems where compatibility with copy export recovery for R4.1 Phase 1 and older needs to be maintained, should not be updated past R5.1, as this and older level continue supporting export recovery with old code level in conjunction with vtd_exec.244.
