IT40522: FILE SYSTEM ARCHIVE FAILS TO COMPRESS FILES WHOSE NAMES BEGIN WITH HYPHEN "-"

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Windows file systems on both physical and virtual servers can be
  protected with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus from V10.1.6.
  
  
  IBM Spectrum Protect Plus file system backup can fail to copy
  snapshot due to transfer error in job log:
  
  
  CTGGA1915,Error occurred on Storage vSnap replication Please
  check vSnap Storage logs.
  CTGGA0309,Copy failed for snapshot (ID: xxxxx) from source
  [server: <vsnap-server>  volume: <source-volume-name>  snapshot:
  <snapshot-name>] to target [server: https://<vsnap-server>:9000
  volume: <target-volume-name>]. Error: TransferError: Transfer
  failed: Failed to compress file /vsnap/vpool1/fsxxx/Shares/xxx/-
  Test.pdf: star: Bad Option: - Test.pdf.

  It is caused by file names beginning with hyphen "-". For
  example:

  Versions affected: 10.1.6.*
  

Local fix

• Rename the file to remove the leading hyphen, run another
  backup, and then archive

Problem conclusion

• File names beginning with a hyphen were not correctly escaped
  during compression as part of archive upload process. The
  problem has been resolved via a code fix to ensure proper
  escaping of the special character in the file name.
