Dynamic Solutions International DSI Series VTL Models:

  • DSI400 Series
  • DSI520 Series
  • DSI540 Series
  • DSI620 Series
  • DSI720 Series
Notes:
1. DSI Series VTL Appliance is a disk-based storage device which emulates one or more tape autoloader devices. The emulated tape and autoloader devices can be backup targets for the IBM Storage Protect Server.

2. The following library emulation mode is validated:
  •   IBM TS3500 (03584L32) Library

3. The following read/write drive emulation modes are validated:

  • IBM ULT3580-TD8
  • IBM ULT3580-TD7
  • IBM ULT3580-TD6
  • IBM ULT3580-TD5

4. The DSI Series VTL appliance have been validated with IBM Spectrum Protect Server 8.1.11 with the following emulation modes:

  • Library emulation - IBM 03584L32 - Firmware: 2460
  • Drive emulation - IBM ULT3580-TD8 - Firmware: G8JF

  • Library emulation - IBM 03584L32 - Firmware: 2460
  • Drive emulation - IBM ULT3580-TD7 - Firmware: FA10

  • Library emulation - IBM 03584L32 - Firmware: 2460
  • Drive emulation - IBM ULT3580-TD6 - Firmware: A3K6

  • Library emulation - IBM 03584L32 - Firmware: 2460
  • Drive emulation - IBM ULT3580-TD8 - Firmware: A3K6
5. Barcodes are supported.

6. ELEMENT=AUTODETECT in the DEFINE/UPDATE DRIVE command is supported.

7. LIBTYPE=VTL in the DEFINE/UPDATE LIBRARY command is required.

8. Application Managed Encryption (AME) is not supported.

9. Drive Encryption, Logical Block Protection, and WORM are not supported.

10. IBM device driver is required. The IBM device drivers are available at IBM Fix Central. Choose the following options from the drop-down menus.

  •   Product Group -> System Storage
  •   System Storage -> Tape systems
  •   Tape systems -> Tape drivers and software
  •   Tape drivers and software -> Tape device drivers
  •   Platform -> Select the platform for the device driver
