Error description

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus enabling the log backups for a
    Microsoft SQL Server database
    might fail with "Error: 0x80131500" if database was recreated or
    restored with restore lsn of older recovery greater than the
    latest recovery.
    
    The job log will display :
    Failed to enable log backup for [SQL INSTANCE] ==> [DATABASE
    NAME] [ Last run for database [DATABASE NAME] failed.]
    Failed to enable log backup for [SQL INSTANCE] ==> [DATABASE
    NAME] [ Last run for database [DATABASE NAME] failed.]
    Setting task status to partial for reasons: [Enable log backup
    failure(s)]
    ....
    Protection task [NUMBER] completed in [TIME DURATION] and ended
    with status PARTIAL|FAIL
    
    Affected versions: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.10

Problem conclusion

  • Query to find previous backups were changed to handle the cases
    where LSN number is less than older backups. After applying the
    fix log backups will continue after the database is restored or
    recreated.
