APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If OSGi applications are installed they may log
NullPointerExceptions in FFDCs during server shutdown. This
can happen if access to the services which were removed as
    part of shutdown are attempted.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
During server shutdown an installed OSGi application might log
FFDC messages containing NullPointerException. This can happen
if a server shutdown is requested while applications are still
starting and the use of a service removed by the shutdown is
    attempted.

Problem conclusion

  • Prior to the APAR the null pointer exceptions were more likely
to occur because at shutdown references to some services were
removed more aggressively than necessary. The code has been
changed so that the service references are not removed as early
    in the shutdown process.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
pack 22.0.0.4. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for
