Problem
Attempting an installation of the Hive Package for Windows fails due to using the wrong package for the architecture of the operating system (32-bit versus 64-bit).
Symptom
When a user or admin is attempting to install the QRadar EDR (formerly ReaQta) Hive Package for Windows, either of the following error messages is displayed:
This install package only supports 32-bit operating systems.
This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor.
This installer closes once the OK button is clicked. These errors can appear either when the agent is installed through the UI, or if it is deployed through some other means, such as Web Deploy or Group Policy.
Cause
This message is caused by attempting to install the QRadar EDR (formerly ReaQta) Hive Package for Windows with mismatched packages architectures and operating system architectures.
For example, attempting to install the 32-bit Hive Package (ReaQtaHive-32.msi) on 64-bit Windows results in the "This install package only supports 32-bit operating systems" error being thrown. Attempting to install the 64-bit Hive Package (ReaQtaHive.msi) on 32-bit Windows instead results in the "This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor" error message. This message also appears if one attempts to install the Hive Package on nonsupported architectures, such as Windows ARM.
For example, attempting to install the 32-bit Hive Package (ReaQtaHive-32.msi) on 64-bit Windows results in the "This install package only supports 32-bit operating systems" error being thrown. Attempting to install the 64-bit Hive Package (ReaQtaHive.msi) on 32-bit Windows instead results in the "This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Noting that many non-Hive 32-bit installers work on 64-bit operating systems to install their respective software; this compatibility is not the case with ReaQta Hive Package for Windows. Instead, the matching architecture must be used for installation.
Resolving The Problem
Installation of Hive Package on with differing architectures is not supported. Instead, check the architecture of the operating system and the Hive Package you are installing.
For Windows 64-bit, use ReaQtaHive.msi.
For Windows 64-bit, use ReaQtaHive.msi.
For Windows 32-bit, use ReaQtaHive-32.msi.
Once this mismatch is corrected, the Hive Package can be installed correctly.
