Error description

• In some cases when the
  reference-modified length is greater
  than one, the TALLYING result in
  identifier-2 is computed incorrectly.
  
  USERS AFFECTED:
  Users of Enterprise COBOL 6.2 compiling and
  running programs containing format 1 of the
  INSPECT statement (INSPECT TALLYING without
  the REPLACING phrase) where identifier-1 is
  a reference-modified LINKAGE SECTION item
  whose PICTURE clause is PICTURE X(1), and
  compiling with the OPT(1) or OPT(2) compiler
  option.
  

Local fix

• BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION
  
  A possible workaround is to change the PICTURE X(1) item to
  PICTURE X(n) where n is the largest reference-modified length
  used at runtime.

  incorrect code that resulted in identifier-2 of the TALLYING
