The System Monitoring Agents can be installed pristine, or over any existing System Monitoring Agent installation.
- There may be intermittent java exceptions when running some tacmd commands. The exception looks similar to the following:
/opt/IBM/ITM/tacmd listUsers
Exception in thread "LogSpooler" com.objectspace.jgl.InvalidOperationException: Slist is empty
at com.objectspace.jgl.SList.popFront(SList.java)
at com.objectspace.jgl.Queue.pop(Queue.java)
at candle.kjr.trace.LogSpooler.run(LogSpooler.java:149)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:825)
The commands still execute. The issue is being investigated and will be resolved in the next service pack. - APAR IJ40021 for Linux on System Z after installing this service pack. See the following flash for details: IBM Tivoli Monitoring Fix Pack 7 Service Pack 12 problem affects any Linux on System z installation. The problem is fixed and the service pack has been updated with a replacement of the 6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012.tar.gz file to address the issue with Linux on system z. The refreshed file can be obtained from the regular IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 service pack 12 (6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-SP0012) download link. See the flash above for what steps to take if you had downloaded and installed the service pack to Linux on System Z prior to May 20, 2022.
- The Tivoli Enterprise Client (TEP) component currently supports 3 separate deployment modes: desktop, browser, and Java Web Start. The browser client is implemented using Java applet technology, which is dependent on support in the browser for a plug-in API called NPAPI (Netscape Plugin API). Over the last decade, modern browser vendors have been restricting, reducing, and, more recently, removing support for plug-in technology such as Flash, Silverlight, and Java. As of 2022, the only major browser vendor that still supports the NPAPI is Microsoft and the Internet Explorer (IE) v11 browser. Microsoft's™ replacement for IE v11 is their Edge browser, which does not support Java applets. Browsers from Google (Chrome), Mozilla (Firefox), and Apple (Safari) dropped support for Java applets several years ago.
Microsoft has announced an End-Of-Life (EOL) cycle for the IE v11 browser. The details are provided in the following document:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/faq/internet-explorer-microsoft-edge#what-is-the-lifecycle-policy-for-internet-explorer-
Of specific interest to ITM customers is that Microsoft Windows 10 (and, by extension, later versions of Windows for the desktop) will no longer support IE v11 as of June 15, 2022. Since IE v11 is the only remaining browser from a major vendor that still supports the execution of Java applets, once this browser is no longer supported by Microsoft, IBM will no longer be able to adequately support the use of the TEP browser client deployment with ITM.Due to Microsoft's™ decision to drop support for the use of IE v11 with Windows 10 in June 2022, IBM is officially deprecating the use of the TEP browser client deployment with the ITM 6.3.0.7 SP12 release. All associated deployment files to support the TEP browser client are still being delivered with SP12. However, this is the final release in which the TEP browser client still operates as expected under the IE v11 browser. The recommended alternatives are to use either the Java Web Start client or the desktop client. These two alternative deployment modes continue to be fully supported by IBM.
Deprecation in IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 Service Pack 12 release:
Removal in IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.30.0 Fix Pack 7 future service releases:
In future service releases, the TEP browser client deployment will no longer be supported. Attempts to launch the TEP browser client will fail. All ITM customers must migrate their TEP client deployment to either Java Web Start or the desktop. - Remote deploy of agents to Windows systems may require service pack 6 or later to be installed directly as per APAR IJ37912. These changes were made to address the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable update and possible component incompatibility issues.
- Since service pack 6 the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (runtimes) used for IBM Tivoli Monitoring for both 32 and 64 bit components on Windows, were updated from VC++ 7.1 (32-bit) and VC++ 9.0 (64-bit). They have been updated to VC++ 12.0 (both 32 and 64 bit). The installation automatically installs the correct runtime if it's not installed. However, the service pack only includes the components included with the IBM Tivoli Monitoring platform as listed in the Components of the monitoring architecture in the IBM Tivoli Monitoring Installation guide. Other IBM Tivoli Monitoring agents (
ITM
6.x Product codes) are still to be rebuilt and updated to the newer runtimes. They might not work correctly when the service pack is applied on the same windows systems as those agents. Check the Agent compatibility with IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 service pack 6 document before applying this service pack. - Remote deployment installs (createnode, updateagent) can fail for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 releases. Ensure you have the latest available ksh rpm for your system if remote deployment fails and try again, or try local installation.
- Latest Java 7.1 included in this and subsequent service packs, disables TLS 1.0 and 1.1 by default but currently does not enable TLS 1.2 by default. To remedy this, from the IBM Java Control panel, "C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Java71\jre\bin\javacpl.exe" select the:
Advanced tab -> “Advanced Security Settings”
and verify that “Use TLS 1.2” is enabled. - Known limitations
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 for IBM System z no longer supports 31-bit applications which prevents the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server (
TEPS
or cq) component on original IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 media from being installed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 for IBM System z. This service pack provides updates to allowTEPS
installation by following the steps listed here Updating 630 Fix Pack 7 pristine... - IBM Java 8 does not work with Windows Server 2008 (NT 6.0). Do not install this service pack on a Windows Server 2008 system. (Windows Server 2008 R2 is supported). Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are both end of support as of 14 January 2020
Installation information
Before installation
Before you proceed with the installation process, make note of these important points:
- Assign CANDLEHOME environment variable (UNIX or Linux only)
Before you begin installing this service pack on UNIX or Linux systems, make sure that the
environment variable $CANDLEHOME is set to the IBM Tivoli Monitoring installation directory.
Note: The directory /opt/IBM/ITM is the default installation directory.
For example:
> CANDLEHOME=/opt/IBM/ITM
> export CANDLEHOME
- Transfer the appropriate archive file:
6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012.tar.gz - IBM Tivoli Monitoring Base and Base Agents for all supported Linux platforms
6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Tools-SP0012.tar.gz - IBM Tivoli Monitoring Tools
6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Unix-SP0012.tar.gz - IBM Tivoli Monitoring Base and Base Agents for all supported UNIX platforms
6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Windows-SP0012.zip - IBM Tivoli Monitoring Base and Base Agents for all supported Windows platforms
to a temporary directory on the system that contains the code to be updated. For the purpose of this readme file,
the symbol <TEMP> represents the fully qualified path to this directory.
Note: On Windows the fully qualified path includes the drive letter.
Expand the archive file by use of the tar command on UNIX or Linux systems or
an unzip utility on Windows systems. Expanding the archive file creates a directory
structure that contains fixes for all of the supported platforms. - As a best practice, it is recommended that all running IBM Tivoli Monitoring processes be stopped manually before doing an upgrade from a previous version or maintenance level to this service pack level. For systems with
TEMS
orTEPS
installed, the service pack installer does not allow installation until theTEMS
andTEPS
are stopped. While the upgrade installer does attempt to stop all other running processes, there are times when a running process fails to stop and that can lead to unexpected upgrade failures if the upgrade is allowed to continue. If any process fails to stop during a manual shutdown, restart the system before proceeding with the upgrade. - Before upgrading, execute the cinfo or KinCInfo command per the instructions in the section entitled Validating what you installed. After the install completes, this will help in validating the installation. Once you complete the install, continue with the next section entitled Performing the necessary tasks after installation.
- The following information applies to users upgrading on UNIX or Linux using a non-root userid for the management server, portal server or any
ITM
or ITCAM agent. You can use any non-root userid so long as that userid is already created. You must use the same userid as was used for the original installation, or the root userid. These steps specify using the itmuser userid and itmgrp group and that the userid and group must already be created.
1. Perform the management server, portal server,ITM
or ITCAM agent upgrade as user itmuser.
2. After the installation completes, run "SetPerm -a" as user root.
3. When updating the management server:
1. If Management server security was enabled, run "SetPerm -s" as user root to re-enable management server security.
2. Add application support to the hub management server.
4. When updating the portal server:
1. Configure the portal server as user root (this step runs InstallPresentation and adds application support on the portal server).
2. Execute the following command as user root to change the ownership of all files in $CANDLEHOME to user itmuser and group itmgrp:
chown -Rf itmuser:itmgrp $CANDLEHOME
3. Run "SetPerm -a" as root user again
5. Start the management server, portal server,ITM
or ITCAM agent as user itmuser.
- The following information applies to users upgrading on Windows systems.
Ensure you are logged on locally to the Windows machine with a userid that has administrator rights. - The following are recommended steps to facilitate recovery of the Tivoli Enterprise Management Server (
TEMS
) or the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server (TEPS
) in the case where problems are encountered during the installation of this service pack.Management Server
-
Run the pdcollect utility to gather all of the current logs and environment files. These backups can be used for reference, if needed, after the upgrade. The "tacmd pdcollect -help" command can be issued to obtain the syntax for the pdcollect utility.
Portal Server
-
Run the migrate-export.bat (Windows) or migrate-export.sh (UNIX or Linux) to backup the contents of the portal server database. This snapshot will allow for recovery of the database back to the point before installing this service pack maintenance.
-
Run the pdcollect utility to gather all of the current logs and environment files. These backups can be used for reference, if needed, after the upgrade. The "tacmd pdcollect -help" command can be issued to obtain the syntax for the pdcollect utility.
-
Installing the service pack
?
Note: For Updating systems with any of: AS MS CQ SH CW or CJ components installed (usually TEMS/TEPS)
the system must be updated to 630 Fix Pack 7 or later service pack for the listed components.
Systems without any of AS MS CQ SH CW or CJ components can be directly updated from a version earlier
than 630 Fix Pack 7 directly to Version 630 Fix Pack 7 Service Pack 12 for the following included components:
LZ NT UE UX AX/GL GS JR/JM CI AC R2 R3 R4 R5 R6
?
cd <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012
./spinst -h $CANDLEHOME
2. For UNIX installs:
cd <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Unix-SP0012
./spinst -h $CANDLEHOME
3. For Windows installs:
cd /d <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Windows-SP0012/
spinst.bat
If the patch installs successfully, sppatch returns the following message:
"Service pack install completed without errors."
after which it runs post install processing script (sp-postinst).
Performing the necessary tasks after installation
- If the
TEPS
system has been updated to WebSphere/HTTP v8.5.5.x by a previous service pack installation, you do not update it again. Additional updates for the IBM Tivoli Monitoring WebSphere Application and IBM HTTP Server are provided as update patches. - Before applying the WebSphere® update, confirm that your environment supports v8.5.5 (See System Requirements for WebSphere Application Server v8.5.5).
- You must install this package with the same userid that you originally used to install the portal server. If you are unsure of the userid, it is the owner of the portal server directory:
- Back up the <CANDLEHOME> directory
- Use your local procedures to stop the portal server and the Eclipse help server
- Perform the uplift:
Linux:
cd <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012
$CANDLEHOME/bin/wasihs855uplift.sh -h $CANDLEHOME -i `pwd`
AIX:
cd <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Unix-SP0012
$CANDLEHOME/bin/wasihs855uplift.sh -h $CANDLEHOME -i `pwd`
Windows:
cd <TEMP>\6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Windows-SP0012
wasihs855uplift -h %CANDLE_HOME% -i %cd% - At the time this service pack was released, the latest available WAS/IHS update patch is 8.55.20.02. This patch contains the formal fix for the log4j issues: CVE-2021-44228, CVE-2021-45105, CVE-2021-44832, CVE-2021-45046 and CVE-2021-4104. The affected file(s) were contained in an installable but not deployed ear file, uddi.ear. If you are already at a WAS patch version 8.55.20.02 or later then you have the fixed uddi.ear file which is still not deployed but will no longer trigger scanner warnings.
- Use your local procedures to restart the portal server
- Since the service pack updates browser/webstart client jars all TEP client users should clear the cache to ensure the latest jars are in use. You can clear your cache as documented Clearing the JAR cache. Note that the preferred way to launch the TEP client is using Java WebStart as the browser client is no longer supported by modern browsers.
Validating what you installed
You can validate your installation by running the KinCInfo command on Windows systems or the cinfo command on Linux or UNIX systems. If you run these commands before and after the upgrade, you can clearly see the component versions that have changed.
For service pack fixes, only components that are updated during this release have the latest listed level. Note that the version number can be different across components depending on the level of maintenance included. If a component has not been updated, the command reports the GA version. There is no need to upgrade this component if your system is at the listed level, the install programs automatically handle this.
Note: The KinCInfo and cinfo command output examples in the sections that follow show all service pack components that can be updated (highlighted). If you do not have all of these components installed, then components not installed are not displayed in the output of these commands.
Note: The version(s) for iu (IBM HTTP Server) and iw (IBM Websphere Application Server) reflect the latest available updated patch at the time this readme was published (8.55.20.02). You can search IBM downloads for the latest upgrade patch.
The following example shows the output of the KinCInfo -t command on a Windows server.

- Transfer the appropriate archive file (6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-<PLATFORM>-SP0012.tar.gz or .zip) to a temporary directory on the system that contains the code to be updated. For the purpose of this readme file, the symbol <TEMP> represents the fully qualified path to this directory. Note: On Windows, this includes the drive letter.
- Expand the archive file using the tar command on UNIX systems or an unzip utility on Windows systems. This creates a directory structure that contains fixes for all of the supported platforms.
- Add the deploy components to the
TEMS
Depot by executing the following command
For Linux packages (lz, r#, tf and ue)
cd <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012/bundles/unix
For UNIX (r#, tf, ue and ux)
cd <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Unix-SP0012/bundles/unix
For Windows packages (nt, r#, tf and ue)
cd <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Windows-SP0012/bundles/WINDOWS/Deploy
To load all components to your depot run the following command once each for UNIX or Linux and then Windows components:
For UNIX or Linux:
$CANDLEHOME/bin/tacmd addbundles -i .
For Windows:
tacmd addbundles -i .
Or you can load only those bundles you want using one or more of the Product codes from the components listed
tacmd addbundles -i . [-t] [<pc>] [<pc> ...]
i.e.
tacmd addbundles -i . -t lz tf
Make note of the deployable component versions as you add the bundles and then use either the updateAgent
or updateFramework commands to remotely deploy.
Pristine installation images for OS agents
The steps are as outlined at this link:
Separating the downloaded ITMl/ITCAM
media image into smaller agent/platform bundles
Note: point to <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012/bundles/unix or <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Unix-SP0012/bundles/unix
or <TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Windows-SP0012/bundles/WINDOWS/Deploy
for the media path per the steps in link.
Updating 630 Fix Pack 7 pristine installation media for new platform support (as listed in New Features)
For all new platforms listed you can install from 630 Fix Pack 7 media but the prerequisite scan will report errors. So long as the errors are just OS Version failure, ITM
630 Fix Pack 7 will install and configure correctly with the following exceptions:
- Solaris 11.4 UNIX OS monitoring agent needs to be installed from service pack 3 or later
- The Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server (CQ) on Linux for System z cannot be installed unless libstdc++.so.5 (compat-libstdc++-33.x on RHEL or libstdc++33.x on SUSE) is also installed. However, since libstdc++.so.5 has been deprecated, newer versions of both RHEL and SUSE no longer provide libstdc++.so.5. You can patch your IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 Base Linux on System z media to allow for Tivoli Enterprise Portal installation on these newer RHEL and SUSE versions.
The service pack provides a mechanism to patch Pristine installation 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 install images so that you can get the latest prerequisite scanner definitions as well as patching the IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.3.0.7 Base, Linux on System z® media so that you can install the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server on newer OS versions on Linux for System z (See install steps below). In all cases after doing a pristine installation from patched 630 Fix Pack 7, you would still need to additionally apply the service pack. Also if you patch windows media, due to the update to Visual C++ runtimes, you must also apply the service pack after doing a pristine installation from patched 630 Fix Pack 7 media.
To patch 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 media, you need an extracted image in a writable location or point to a new, writable, location in case your source image is read-only. To patch your media:
Linux:
<TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012/mediaupdate
UNIX:
<TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Unix-SP0012/mediaupdate
Windows:
<TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Windows-SP0012/mediaupdate.bat
To patch the installation media:
mediaupdate -h media_dir [-w write_dir] [-r]
where: -h media_dir full path of the original CD image or expanded
media directory.
-w write_dir is optional and is full path of the modified CD image directory.
it's only required if media_dir is not a writable directory.
-r is optional and restores updated media to original contents if you want to undo patching of the extracted installation media
Per the usage you must specify the location of a 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 extracted install image (pristine) and the script copies over the updated install, prerequisite checking and for base Linux for System z the TEPS
and teps install manager files needed to then use the modified pristine image to do a fresh install of your target OS (all supported components). Again, after installation using the updated media, then immediately apply SP12
for example
Linux:
<TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012/mediaupdate -h /tmp/6307media/agents
<TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Linux-SP0012/mediaupdate -h /tmp/6307media/base_zlinux
UNIX:
<TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Unix-SP0012/mediaupdate -h /tmp/6307media/agents
Windows:
<TEMP>/6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-Windows-SP0012/mediaupdate.bat -h c:\temp\6307media\agents
To install Tivoli Enterprise Portal on Linux for System z for newer OS versions after patching Base Linux for System z install media:
- Run the install for the Tivoli Enterprise Portal from the patched media
- Immediately apply this service pack per the installation instructions
- Configure the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server (cq) component before continuing with the service pack "Perform the necessary tasks after installation"
Additional installation updates
Installing and configuring IBM Java 8 from Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server for Tivoli Enterprise Portal browser and web start clientsThis service pack allows for updating Tivoli Enterprise Portal browser and web start clients to IBM Java 8. The steps are a variation on the Installing and configuring IBM Java 7 > Upgrade installation version pristine installation documentation as follows:
The previous document link has a reference to Windows: Upgrading your existing version of Java to IBM Java 7 and Linux: Upgrading your existing version of Java to IBM Java 7.
Per the previous links you need to edit the jreconfig.js file on your Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server and change the value of the jreDesiredLevel statement to the following value:
var jreDesiredLevel = "1.8.0";
If you have jreDesiredLevel set to allow for users to run with their clients default, system JRE, i.e.:
var jreDesiredLevel = "*";
New utility for securing Windows installations
The service pack installation provides a new command on Windows:
%CANDLE_HOME%\InstallITM\securemain.cmd
An administrator can use the command to limit the permissions non-admin users have on the C:\IBM\ITM (%CANDLE_HOME%) folder.
To set security permissions limiting non administrators users from creating files or folders, use the following command:
secureMain lock
To remove security settings use the following command:
secureMain unlock
Command syntax can be viewed with the following syntax:
secureMain -?
The secureMain commands use the following syntax:
secureMain [-h install_dir] [-g SID] [-d folder] lock
secureMain [-h install_dir] [-g SID] unlock
where variables are defined as follows:
install_dir is the directory path for the IBM Tivoli Monitoring installation.
If this parameter is not supplied, the script attempts to determine the installation directory.
SID is the Windows Security Identifier. The default SID used is S-1-5-11.
folder is an additional folder to set admin rights for. This is used when factory agents create an additional folder under the installation directory.
SID values are the user and group identifiers used by Windows when setting file security. The following links provide additional information on SIDs.
List of commonly used SIDs:
Command line syntax for listing SID values of accounts defined on the system:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/wmisdk/wmic
Example usage: "wmic useraccount get name, sid"

New Features/Enhancements
The following new features are included in IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 service pack 12:
- Currency
- Support for Windows Server 2022 (all components) and Windows 11 Pro (TEP client and OS Agent).
- Security Fixes
- Security Bulletin: Vulnerabilities in IBM Java included with IBM Tivoli Monitoring.
- Security Bulletin: IBM Tivoli Monitoring is affected but not classified as vulnerable by a denial of service in Spring Framework (CVE-2022-22950). The Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server (CQ) component includes but does not use it. Service pack 12 removes Spring Framework from the product.
- Security Bulletin: IBM Tivoli Monitoring is affected but not classified as vulnerable by a remote code execution in Spring Framework (CVE-2022-22965). IBM Tivoli Monitoring is affected but not classified as vulnerable to a remote code execution in Spring Framework (CVE-2022-22965) as it does not meet all of the following criteria: 1. JDK 9 or higher, 2. Apache Tomcat as the Servlet container, 3. Packaged as WAR (in contrast to a Spring Boot executable jar), 4. Spring-webmvc or spring-webflux dependency, 5. Spring Framework versions 5.3.0 to 5.3.17, 5.2.0 to 5.2.19, and older versions. The Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server (CQ) component includes but does not use it. The fix removes Spring from the product.
- Security Bulletin: IBM Tivoli Monitoring is vulnerable to remote code execution and denial of service due to multiple Expat CVEs. The libexpat parser that is used by IBM Tivoli Monitoring for parsing various configuration xml files and parsing soap requests is potentially vulnerable to the following remote code execution CVE's: CVE-2021-46143 CVE-2022-25314 CVE-2022-23990 CVE-2022-22825 CVE-2022-23852 CVE-2022-22824 CVE-2022-22823 CVE-2022-22826 CVE-2022-22827 CVE-2022-22822 CVE-2022-25315 and the following denial of service CVE's: CVE-2021-45960 CVE-2022-25236 CVE-2022-25235 CVE-2022-25313. Most of the vulnerabilities would require the system to be locally compromised such that a bad actor could modify file locally.

List of fixes
IBM Monitoring Agent for Linux OS APARs | |
---|---|
IJ35907 | When a situation or historical collection is collecting data for the Linux File Information attribute group where a filename is not specified, and the agent encounters the pthread_create error, the agent will go in a loop trying to collect the data resulting in high CPU for the agent process. (6177F69A.40B6-6:klz20agt.cpp,1424,"executeSystemCallInSeparateThread")WARNING: pthread_create failed with error code 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) The error above occurs when there are insufficient resources to create another thread. A system-imposed limit on the number of threads was encountered. |
IBM Monitoring Agent for Windows OS APARs | |
IJ37178 | The Monitoring Agent for Windows OS reports the incorrect value for the Operating System Type attribute on Windows 11 and Windows 2022 systems. Windows 11 is reported as Windows_10 instead of Windows_11 and Windows 2022 is reported as Windows_2016 instead of Windows_2022. This attribute is part of the System attribute group and can be seen in the System Overview workspace. |
IJ37300 | Integrate the Log File Agent function into the Windows OS Agent. This will allow allows log files to be monitored with the Tivoli Monitoring for Windows OS Agent. This provides most the functionality as provided by the Tivoli Log File Agent (KLO) and now is included as part of the Windows OS Agent. See Technote "ITM OS Agent Log File Monitoring Feature README" for details including new attribute groups, attributes, queries, and workspaces. The README also documents how to enable the new feature as well as the differences from Tivoli Log File Agent and changes to the Windows OS Agent. The feature requires the Monitoring Servers (TEMS) and Portal Server (TEPS) be updated to ITM 6.30 FP7 Service Pack 12 (or later) to include the updated worskspaces and queries. |
IJ37883 | Starting with 6.30 FP7 SP6, the Monitoring Agent for Windows OS 32-bit agent will stop running when monitoring messages using the Event Log attribute group. The issue occurs when processing a pure event log message that has been written to an event log that is being monitored by the agent. Until a log file message is processed, the agent will run as expected. This can also affect remote deploying updates to the system where the Windows OS Agent 32-bit agent is running since it might stop running before a remote deploy update is complete. |
IBM Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Agent APARs | |
IJ37537 | ROWCOUNT is not included in the REPORT response for to an ASI query. |
IJ38260 | If an Agent is configured so that its Historical Collection data is available to both ITM TEMS and CP4MCM then excessive duplicate data will be uploaded to the Warehouse Proxy Agent causing the Warehouse Proxy Agent to run out of system resources resulting in its abnormal termination. |
IJ38309 | Specifying only the SERVER parameter value for the setagentconnection command to configure Agents on a Windows system does not work. |
IBM Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Installation APARs | |
IJ26325 | When attempting to start multiple instances of the MQ agent on Linux when there are entries in the RunInfo file, the first agent takes 2 additional minutes to start. |
IJ37911 | Media update doesn't copy all required files for non-english install |
IJ37913 | On Solaris platform, XX.environment files containing spaces in the value after the = are broken after installing SP9 This causes the itmcmd agent/server command to fail to stop or start the component with the XX.environment file containing an entry with spaces in the value. |
IJ38062 | Service pack install failure. Viewing the patchlog.log showed that setup.exe failed with either rc = -3 or rc = a very large negative number. Occasionally this was reported as occurring on machines installing to a non-default folder (eg c:\program files (x86)\ibm\itm), but that may not have been a true correlation. |
IJ38082 | Uplift Java Runtime Environment |
IJ38990 | Starting and stopping the first ITM agent/server takes an additional 25 seconds per non-running PID entry in RunInfo. |
IJ40021 | A problem with one of the supporting libraries provided in IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 7 Service Pack 12 (6.3.0.7-TIV-ITM-SP0012) is causing failures in numerous tacmd commands and can also affect other components only for Linux on system z |
IBM Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server APARs | |
IJ36202 | - Requests to read the Global Location Broker may return incomplete results. - A scan of the GLB might cause an application, e.g. the utility kdclbad, to loop. |
IJ38035 | The number of entries in the Global Location Broker of a distributed Hub steadily increases |
IBM Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server APARs | |
IJ30271 | If all of the following 3 conditions are met in the monitored environment, TEPS user authentication will fail: 1. Customer is using LDAP to authenticate TEPS users. 2. The `UID` or `CN` property assigned to the user being authenticated in the LDAP repository is different than the corresponding TEPS userid. Differences can include case, character values, and length. 3. The customer has configured the TEP to communicate with the TEPS via HTTP or HTTPS, and not IIOP (which is the default protocol). |
IJ37259 | Due to a undocumented regression in the Microsoft ODBC drivers for Windows with version stamps beginning with 2017.x.x.x, the TEPS component is unable to accurately determine which type of database is being used to store TEPS- related definitions. In particular, this regression affects database tables involving Binary Large Object (BLOB) and image type columns. INSERT and UPDATE operations against tables involving these column types will fail. When this failure occurs, the following error message is normally reported in the TEPS trace log(s): `[SQL Server]'BLOB' is not a recognized built-in function name.` |
