Error updating an Eclipse p2 installation on macOS

Problem

When you attempt to update the IBM Developer for z/OS client on macOS by using an Eclipse p2 update package, you might encounter an error like the following:
An error occurred while uninstalling

Symptom

The update operation fails.

Cause

This error can occur when the installed Developer for z/OS client is notarized, but the update package is not notarized.

Resolving The Problem

Before updating a notarized client from an update package that is not notarized, remove the extended attributes from the client application.
  1. Open a Terminal window.
  2. Change to the installation directory of the IBM Developer for z/OS client application.
  3. Type the following command and press Enter. In this command, replace <app> with the file name of the installed client application:
      sudo  xattr -cr  <app>
     Example:      sudo xattr -cr  IBM\  Developer\  for\ zOS.app/
4. Update the client as described in the "Eclipse p2" section of "Updating the client to a new release" in the IBM Documentation:
