Prerequisites and co-requisites

General description

This fix provides OpenJDK 17, IBM Semeru JDK 17, Eclipse Adoptium JDK 17 for the IBM APM V8.1.4 J2SE data collector.  You can download the image and configure the image in the APM server, and then configure it to monitor your J2SE applications.  

Platforms and prerequisites 

This component supports AIX, Linux x86_64, Windows 64 and PowerLinux little endian now.

Installing and Configuring

 
For AIX:
  1. Download 8.1.4.0-IBM-APM-J2SE-DATACOLLECTOR-AIX-IF0003.tgz to APM Server.
  2. Use command: tar -czvf apm_datacollectors_aix_8.1.4.0.17.tgz 8.1.4.0-IBM-APM-J2SE-DATACOLLECTOR-AIX-IF0003.tgz
  3. Config the apm_datacollectors_aix_8.1.4.0.17.tgz with the guide https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/capmp/8.1.4?topic=agents-configuring-downloaded-images
  4. After configured, move the apm_datacollectors_aix_8.1.4.0.17.tgz to AIX vm.
  5. Refer to j2se dc guide to install j2se dc https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/capmp/8.1.4?topic=environment-configuring-j2se-monitoring
For Linux:
  1. Download 8.1.4.0-IBM-APM-J2SE-DATACOLLECTOR-XLINUX-IF0003.tgz to APM Server.
  2. Use command: tar -czvf apm_datacollectors_linux_8.1.4.0.17.tgz 8.1.4.0-IBM-APM-J2SE-DATACOLLECTOR-XLINUX-IF0003.tgz
  3. Config the apm_datacollectors_linux_8.1.4.0.17.tgz with the guide https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/capmp/8.1.4?topic=agents-configuring-downloaded-images
  4. After configured, move the apm_datacollectors_linux_8.1.4.0.17.tgz to linux vm.

For Windows:
  1. Download 8.1.4.0-IBM-APM-J2SE-DATACOLLECTOR-WIN64-IF0003.zip to windows vm.
  2. Create a new directory apm_datacollectors_win_8.1.4.0.17.
  3. Paste 8.1.4.0-IBM-APM-J2SE-DATACOLLECTOR-WIN64-IF0003.zip under the folder apm_datacollectors_win_8.1.4.0.17.
  4. Zip the directory apm_datacollectors_win_8.1.4.0.17.
  5. Move the apm_datacollectors_win_8.1.4.0.17.zip to APM Server.
  6. Config the apm_datacollectors_win_8.1.4.0.17.zip with the guide https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/capmp/8.1.4?topic=agents-configuring-downloaded-images
  7. After configured, move the apm_datacollectors_win_8.1.4.0.17.tgz to windows vm.

For PowerLinux little endian:
  1. Download 8.1.4.0-IBM-APM-J2SE-DATACOLLECTOR-PLINUXLE-IF0003.tgz to APM Server.
  2. Use command: tar -czvf apm_datacollectors_plinuxle_8.1.4.0.17.tgz 8.1.4.0-IBM-APM-J2SE-DATACOLLECTOR-PLINUXLE-IF0003.tgz
  3. Config the apm_datacollectors_plinuxle_8.1.4.0.17.tgz with the guide https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/capmp/8.1.4?topic=agents-configuring-downloaded-images
  4. After configured, move the apm_datacollectors_plinuxle_8.1.4.0.17.tgz to PowerLinux little endian vm.
