Error description

  • ACE v12.0.1 and above, and ACE v11.0.0.12 and above do not
    respect the local codepage as specified by the LANG environment
    variable on Linux platforms. Instead UTF-8 will always be used
    as the local codepage. Affected users will note that the
    mqsiservice command will always report that the console and ICU
    CCSIDs are 1208 and that the default codepage is UTF-8. For
    example on an unaffected system:

    $ LANG=ja_JP.eucjp mqsiservice
    BIPmsgs  ja_JP
     Console CCSID=33722, ICU CCSID=33722
     Default codepage=ibm-33722_P12A_P12A-2004_U2, in
    ascii=ibm-33722_P12A_P12A-2004_U2
     JAVA console codepage name=cp33722

    BIP8071I: ??????????????

    but an affected system will show:

    BIPmsgs  ja_JP
     Console CCSID=1208, ICU CCSID=1208
     Default codepage=UTF-8, in ascii=UTF-8
     JAVA console codepage name=UTF-8

    BIP8071I: ??????????????

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    The local CCSID is incorrectly fixed to be 1208 (i.e. UTF-8) on
    all Linux platforms due to a change in behaviour in ICU.

Problem conclusion

  • The version of ICU shipped with IBM App Connect Enterprise is
    now correctly configured to respect the local CCSID.
