Problem
Some versions of the Apache Hive 3.1 JDBC driver JAR files include Java classes that cause Cognos Analytics 11.2.2 to fail to start.
An example is version 3.1.0.3.1.5.0-152
Cause
The JAR files provided by Apache include Java classes, which cause conflicts.
The log4j Java classes included with Apache Hive are incompatible with the log4j Java classes in Cognos Analytics.
Diagnosing The Problem
There is a log file in the logs subdirectory ffdc with the following text:

Change the Apache Hive driver to latest which works with your server.
Apache Hive version 3.1.3000.7.1.6.0-297 is compatible with Cognos Analytics.
