Abstract

IBM® Rational ClearQuest 9.0.1.13-iFix01 has been made generally available for the operating systems listed in this article and contains fixes to version 9.0.1.13, including all predecessor fixes. Note that interim fix 9.0.1.13-iFix01 is needed only if you install ClearCase and ClearQuest on the same system.

Each patch contains the cumulative fixes of its predecessor. All other patches referenced in this document are obsolete.
 

Prerequisites


Prerequisites: Installation Manager 1.8.2 or later version of 1.8.x; Rational ClearQuest Version 9.0.1.13.

Installation Instructions


You must install this update using the Updates Packages wizard in IBM Installation Manager. For information on installing updates, see the topic "Updating Packages by using wizard mode" in the IBM Documentation.


Refer to technote 1380386 for detailed installation instructions.

If you plan to use Installation Manager on Solaris, Linux, or AIX in GUI mode, refer to technote 1330190 for more information.

  • By default, the update is installed from the IBM update repository located on a remote server.

  • It is also possible to download the update and install it locally.
     
    1. Download the repository from the Download Package table below.

    2. Extract files to a temporary directory. In the IBM Installation Manager, click File > Preferences and add the temporary directory location to the list of repositories.

    3. Use the Update Packages wizard in the Installation Manager to complete the update.


If you plan to use WebSphere Application Server v8 with IBM Rational ClearCase or IBM Rational ClearQuest, read technote 1569987 before installing the products.

Critical

This is a maintenance release. This interim fix addresses incompatibility during the upgrade of ClearCase and ClearQuest to version 9.0.1.13 when both products are installed on the same system.

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

Notes:
  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

What's new

Interim fix 9.0.1.13-iFix01 addresses the inability to upgrade ClearCase and ClearQuest to version 9.0.1.13 when both products are installed on the same system. If you do not have ClearCase and ClearQuest on the same system, ClearQuest users do not need 9.0.1.13-iFix01.

For customers who have ClearCase and ClearQuest on the same system:

  • If you have any version from 9.0.1 to 9.0.1.8, first upgrade to version 9.0.1.12. After 9.0.1.12 is installed, then apply 9.0.1.13 with the interim fix for 9.0.1.13, by adding 9.0.1.13 and 9.0.1.13-iFix01 into your Installation Manager repository list.
  • If you already have a version from 9.0.1.9 to 9.0.1.12, then apply 9.0.1.13 with the interim fix for 9.0.1.13, by adding 9.0.1.13 and 9.0.1.13-iFix01 into your Installation Manager repository list.
