This section contains information about available images for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus:

Images on Fix Central online

To get the latest features and enhancements, it is required to update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus from a previous version or release. Software patches and updates are delivered on Fix Central and installed by using the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus administrative console.

The Fix Central online website contains update files for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for download. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Fix Central online website.

The images available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. You must install a base level package to use these images.

  • The IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.10.1 contain only IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server as a set of containers. The purpose of this delivery is to optimize the boot order of associated services of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server as a set of containers for IBM Spectrum Fusion 2.2. You can download and install the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server as a set of containers by using one of the following methods:

    You can optionally expand the environment with the images listed in the following sections. These images can be installed at any time after the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server component is installed and deployed.
     

  • vSnap Server and VADP proxy
    In larger backup enterprise environments, more vSnap servers might be required.
    You can create proxies to run VMware backup jobs through vStorage API for Data Protection (VADP) in Linux environments. The proxies reduce demand on system resources by enabling load sharing and load balancing.

  • Container backup support
    Container Backup Support is a feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus that extends data protection to containers in Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift clusters.  Before you can back up and restore persistent volumes that are attached to your containers, you must install and deploy Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift backup support images.

    You can install the Container Backup Support operator and instance in an air-gapped environment by using an IBM® Container Application Software for Enterprises (CASE) bundle. An air-gapped environment is a private network that does not have access to the internet. For your convenience, scripts are provided in the CASE bundle to help you install the product.   • Update files
    To upgrade IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, use the following files:

    A license key is required to convert the trial version to a fully licensed version.

    A subscription license is required to support Microsoft Office 365 Exchange Online and OneDrive.

A perpetual license option is unavailable.

    Note: Entitlement to protect Microsoft Office 365 is NOT included in the IBM Spectrum Protect Suites or the IBM Spectrum Storage Suite, therefore needs to be purchased separately. For test and proof of concept purposes, the license is not required. A free trial version is available. You can download the package from IBM Spectrum Protect Plus on IBM Marketplace.

Important:

  • When you update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, at a minimum, you must have enough free space to complete the installation. Generally, you must have 4.5 GB available in the  /tmp directory for offline updates and 500 MB available in the /tmp directory for online update. Additionally, you must have 1.5 GB free in the /var directory and 2 GB free in the root directory.
  • Do not change the names of the files that you download. The original file names are required for the installation or update process to complete without errors.
  • For the host name of the OVA deployment, do not use a name that includes the underscore character "_".

    Passport Advantage is a secure website that requires an account ID and password. It has all of the images associated with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.10.x available for download.

    You can locate images on the Passport Advantage Online website by using the part number as the search query.
