Error description

  • Monitoring status is shown as "invalid credentials" as a result
of failed connection attempts to monitored devices. Internally
the messaging leading to this status being displayed is as
    follows:

    completionStatus = 2 Additional info:
    NIUnavailableServerException Reason Code: -1
    NIUnavailableServerException: completionStatus = 2 means
    (according to ESSNI javadoc): REASON_REFUSED

Storage Insights should only log "invalid credentials" (and the
associated "BPCSS0031E" code), if the device is truly
unreachable due to bad credentials. When Storage Insights
shows invalid credentials, it is not possible to restart
    monitoring
jobs or issue a connection test from the resources - block
storage panel as the options are grayed out.

Local fix

  • In this situation, the following workaround can be used to get
the probe and performance monitor to restart:
    - open the device?s details panel in Storage Insights.
    - from the actions drop down menu, click to run the ?Test
    Connection? action
    - observe the connection test to pass
    - from the actions drop down menu, click to run the ?Restart
    Data Collection? action
    - confirm that the probe and performance monitor both resume
    normal operation.
