Error description

  • It is possible that when user click on the IBM Spectrum Protect
tab in the Virtual Environments extension they receive a
    GVM5109E message stating the following:

GVM5109E An error occurred retrieving data from the IBM
    Spectrum Protect server.

Contact the IBM Spectrum Protect server administrator for
    assistance.

This is caused by a schedule having been created with the
parameter "period=ONETIME" as a results perunits are null and it
    is treated incorrectly.

To Diagnose the problem user will need to query the schedules
and look for one with a period of ONETIME.

The symptoms are identical to the symptoms of APAR IT23285. The
fix delivered with APAR IT23285 was incomplete and additional
changes are needed to address this issue fully.

    Affected versions:
IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments - Data Protection
for VMware version 8.1.x on all Windows and Linux platforms

    | MDVPARTL 8.1.6-TIV_5725TVEVM | (IT23285)

Local fix

  • Do not define a schedule to use the onetime parameter for the
period option. If one is already created, the schedule can be
    deleted.
