Troubleshooting
Problem
In an IBM InfoSphere Information Server 11.7.1.3 environment, installation of 11.7.1.3 Service pack 1 or Service pack 2 or Service pack 3 fails while the Update Installer is running prerequisite checks of the Microservices tier.
Symptom
When the installation is done in the GUI mode of the Update installer, errors are reported in the Microservices Tier Host System Requirements panel that are not applicable to a 11.7.1.3 installation. For example, in the following screen capture, an error is reported against the version of RedHat Linux64 on the system.
Cause
The installation guides for 11.7.1.3 Service pack 1. 11.7.1.3 Service pack 2 and 11.7.1.3 Service pack 3 includes a pre-upgrade step 3.3.2 that requires setting the key com.ibm.iis.ug.installed.version. If this key is not set before installation of the service pack, then on the Microservices tier, the Update installer runs the prerequisite checks of a prior release. Due to the incorrect checks, the errors are reported.
Environment
Information Server 11.7.1.3 with a Microservices tier.
Diagnosing The Problem
1. In your 11.7.1.3 installation, check whether the key was set before installation of the Service pack:
> cd /opt/IBM/InformationServer/ASBServer/bin/
> ./iisAdmin.sh -set -key com.ibm.iis.ug.installed.version
If the value returned is not as follows, the failures described previously occur:
com.ibm.iis.ug.installed.version=11713
2. Examine the errors reported in the Microservices Tier Host System Requirements panel.
> ./iisAdmin.sh -set -key com.ibm.iis.ug.installed.version
If the value returned is not as follows, the failures described previously occur:
com.ibm.iis.ug.installed.version=11713
2. Examine the errors reported in the Microservices Tier Host System Requirements panel.
Resolving The Problem
The property must be set before Information Server 11.7.1.3 Service pack 1 or Service pack 2 or Service pack 3 is applied.
1. Set the property:
> cd /opt/IBM/InformationServer/ASBServer/bin/
> ./iisAdmin.sh -set -key com.ibm.iis.ug.installed.version -value 11713
2. Verify that the property is set correctly:
> ./iisAdmin.sh -d -key com.ibm.iis.ug.installed.version
com.ibm.iis.ug.installed.version=11713
3. Apply Information Server 11.7.1.3 Service pack 1 or 2 or 3.
4. Review the output in the Microservices Tier Host System Requirements panel.
