APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Automatic data collector upgrade failed with the following
    reason in the Upgrade column
    - Upgrade failed due to locked files
    
    Identified the locked file as hitachi_vsp.exe, which is used
    during data collection.
    
    upgrade_tracemessage_0.log (with example installation path)
    [ReplaceCollectorWithDownloaded.main] [LOG] Cannot upgrade the
    data collector in the E:\IBM_Cloud_DataCollector_Windows
    directory because the directory contains the following locked
    files: E:\IBM_Cloud_DataCollector_Windows\bin\hitachi_vsp.exe
    
    
    To work around this issue, temporarily disable the performance
    monitor schedules and make sure any remaining hitachi_vsp.exe
    processes are stopped.  Upgrade the data collector and then
    re-enable the performance monitors.
    

Local fix

  • None, but it can be worked around by disabling the performance
    monitor schedules until the upgrade is completed.
