PH42018: MQ Z/OS: THE CSQX298E MESSAGE SOMETIMES DOES NOT INCLUDE THE CHANNEL NAME

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The CHIN joblog contained message:
  
    CSQX298E cpf CSQXRESP AMS not available, required for channel
  
  The message did not contain the name of the channel.  That is
  not always the case, but some code paths might lead to the
  missing channel name.
  

Local fix

• If a nearby message does not contain the channel name, a dump
  with CHINIT trace active is needed.
  

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When configuring a sender/receiver      *
  *                      channel pair, and the receiver has a    *
  *                      SPLPROT value other than PASSTHRU, with *
  *                      AMS disabled, the CSQX298E error        *
  *                      message may not include the name of the *
  *                      channel.                                *
  ****************************************************************
  Message CSQX298E is issued by two different codepaths, one of
  which passes an empty string instead of the channel name.
  
  An example of channel configurations causing this error are
  receiver or requester channels configured with
  SPLPROT(ASPOLICY).
  

Problem conclusion

• The channel name is now correctly populated in the CSQX298E
  error message.
