Problem

How to add support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 in IBM Data Studio 4.1.x?

Resolving The Problem

  1. Go to the Data Studio installation directory:
    Linux: /opt/IBM/DS4.1.4
    Windows: C:\Program Files\IBM\DS4.1.4
  2. Open the eclipse.ini file, add the following parameters and save the changes:
    1. -Dcom.ibm.jsse2.overrideDefaultTLS=true
    2. -Dcom.ibm.jsse2.overrideDefaultProtocol=TLSv12
    3. -Dcom.ibm.jsse2.overrideDefaultCSName=true
  3. For starting Data Studio for the first time, run the following command from the Data Studio installation directory: eclipse.exe -clean
    Note: The -clean command ensures that any metadata from the Data Studio is cleared.
  4. Proceed with establishing the database connection.
