Error description

  • It has been observed that a DS8000 device reports a ?Node
    Status? of: ?Service required?, while Storage Insights displays
    a? Normal? status. Storage Insights node status should match the
    node status that?s displayed on the DS8000 device.

Problem summary

    * IBM Storage Insights users monitoring DS8000 device while    *
    * node is offline                                              *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * It has been observed that a DS8000 device reports a "Node    *
    * Status" of "Service required", while Storage Insights        *
    * displays                                                     *
    * a "Normal" status for the device.                            *
    *                                                              *
    * Storage Insights node status should match the node status    *
    * that's displayed on the DS8000 device.                       *
    *                                                              *
    * This APAR fix will address this for DS8900 devices, where    *
    * a DS command is available to fetch the node status, and it   *
    * will be properly displayed in the Storage Insights GUI.      *
    *                                                              *
    * Unfortunately that command is not available for the DS88x0   *
    * devices, so this will continue to operate as-is for DS88x0,  *
    * such as DS8880.                                              *
