Error description

  • Customer tried to configure the javamail to use TLS 1.2 but
current javamail com.ibm.ws.prereq.javamail.jar doesn't work
with TLS1.2

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Upgrade JavaMail to 1.4.7 in WebSphere  *
*                      8.5.5 to enable TLSv1.2 support.        *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
When a user tries to configure their SMTP mail server to use
TLSv1.2, the current JavaMail shipped in WAS 8.5.5 will not work
properly.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The JavaMail prereq in WAS 8.5.5.x has been upgraded from 1.4.2
1.4.7 to support TLSv1.2

The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
8.5.5.21.
