Problem
When attempting to open a formula report in Planning Analytics for Excel, you notice #NAME on all the formulas like SUBNM or DBRW. All other report types work fine (Exploration, Quick).
Symptom
#NAME is seen instead of values
Cause
The main reason is it`s missing the TM1 Add-in that is required for this operation.
Environment
Excel 32/64 bit
Resolving The Problem
You need to manually enable this add-in.
Within Excel, click File, followed by Options and Add-ins.
Scroll to the very end and under Manage click "Go" with Excel Add-ins selected. Click Browse.
Depending on the version of Planning Analytics for Excel installed (32 or 64 bit), Navigate to either:
C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\IBM for Microsoft Office (64 bit)
C:\Program Files(x86) \ibm\cognos\IBM for Microsoft Office (32 bit)
You need to look for a file that says CognosOfficeTM1.xll. Select that and click ok. You will now see IBM Cognos Office Reporting TM1 Add-in.
You can try opening the formula reports again to check whether it`s working.
There are times you see the #NAME appear even with the IBM Cognos Office Reporting TM1 Add-in already in place. In a scenario like this, you will need to clear the IBM Cognos Office Reporting TM1 Add-in and follow the mentioned steps again to manually enable it.
