Try and Buy license is applied for TSAMP instead of permanent license in IBM Cloud Pak System for Db2 pattern type

Troubleshooting

Problem

In IBM Cloud Pak System, for Db2 pattern type, the Try and Buy license is applied for TSAMP instead of the permanent license.
Out of the box, for the TSAMP component on Db2 instances, a Try and Buy license is applied when it is deployed by using any of the following Db2 pattern type versions:
Db2 pattern type Linux
Db2 11.1 Db2 11.5
1.2.9.0 IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.9.0_linuxx64_server_11.1.4.4.tgz
1.2.10.0 IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.10.0_linuxx64_server_11.1.4.4.tgz
1.2.12.0 IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.12.0_linuxx64_server_11.1.4.5.tgz IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.12.0_linuxx64_server_11.5.0.0.tgz
1.2.13.0 IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.13.0_linuxx64_server_11.1.4.5.tgz IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.13.0_linuxx64_server_11.5.4.0.tgz
1.2.14.0 IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.14.0_linuxx64_server_11.1.4.5.tgz IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.14.0_linuxx64_server_11.5.5.0.tgz
Db2 pattern type AIX
Db2 11.1 Db2 11.5
1.2.9.0 IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.9.0_aix64_server_11.1.4.4.tgz
1.2.10.0 IPAS_DBaaS_1.2.10.0_aix64_server_11.1.4.4.tgz

Symptom

The Try and Buy license expires after 90 days. After 90 days of deployment, the HADR function is limited and resources cannot be added or modified to the existing clusters.
Check the license status after 90 days of the trial license as follows:

-bash-4.2# samlicm -s
Try and Buy license has expired.

Diagnosing The Problem

After you deploy the Db2 virtual system instance, verify the TSAMP license by using the “samlicm -s” command. The output for the Try and Buy license displays as follows:
Product: IBM Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatform (Try & Buy License) 4.1.0.0
Evaluation Period: 90 days (89 days left)
Creation date: Fri 16 Aug 2013 12:00:01 AM UTC
Expiration date: Thu 31 Dec 2037 12:00:01 AM UTC

Resolving The Problem

For existing instances:
To apply the full license for the deployed instances, apply the eFix on the deployed instance to update the Try and Buy license to full license.
Contact IBM Support team to obtain the eFix.
Verification steps:
After you apply the eFix, validate the license status with the following steps:
  1. Validate the license status by using the “samlicm -s” command. This action displays the permanent license as follows:
    -bash-4.2# samlicm -s
Product: IBM Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatforms 4.1.0.0
Creation date: Fri 16 Aug 2013 12:00:01 AM UTC
Expiration date: Thu 31 Dec 2037 12:00:01 AM UTC
  2. If it is Linux image, verify the permanent license. The file is present at /opt/ibm/db2/V11.X/tsamp64/license
If it is AIX image, the file location is /opt/ibm/db2/V11.X/tsamp/license
    ls /opt/ibm/db2/V11.5/tsamp64/license
    sam41.lic
