Error description

  • APAR PH36777 added code to SIGYMAC(IGYCOPT) to recognize the
problem when administrators incorrectly coded OPTION( ) instead
of OPTION=( ) or coded an unknown compiler option.
Administrators are getting confused because the *** MNOTE ***
message says OPT=VALUE instead of OPTION=VALUE. They
mistakenly think that there is a problem with the OPT
(OPTIMIZE) compiler option. They also do not recognize that
the list of invalid options is listed immediately below the
message, in the assembler listing output for IGYCDOPT.

The original error message produced by the MNOTE in the IGYCOPT
macro was not clear enough and seemed to imply that there was a
problem with the OPT compiler option, when it was actually
referring to any compiler OPTION. The message also did not
instruct the administrator to look for the badly formatted or
unknown compiler options immediately following the MNOTE error
    message in the assembler listing.

The original error message produced by the MNOTE in the IGYCOPT
macro was not clear enough and seemed to imply that there was a
problem with the OPT compiler option, when it was actually
referring to any compiler OPTION. The message also did not
instruct the administrator to look for the badly formatted or
unknown compiler options to immediately follow the error message
    in the assembler listing.

Problem conclusion

  • The MNOTE error message produced when an incorrectly formatted
or unknown compiler option is specified in the IGYCDOPT
assembler file has been reworded to clearly identify the
problem. It also now instructs the admin to look for the
unknown or badly formatted options to immediately follow this
    message in the assembler listing.

Temporary fix
