Error description
In Rational Developer for System z (RDz),or Rational Developer for i, the user may attempt to clear file cache by selecting Window > Preferences > Remote Systems > File Cache > Clear Cached Files but the cached files are not removed due to the following error message: RSEF6102: Unable to synchronize cache changes to host. Operation canceled.
Local fix
Problem summary
If the workspace metadata for files in the RemoteSystemTempFiles project becomes corrupt then, when a user tries to clear the file cache, an RSEF6102 error can occur.
Problem conclusion
The error occurred because (1) the customer's metadata was corrupted and (2) because RSE did not have a check for the scenario where metadata was missing. We adding checking so that the error can be avoided and the temp files can be cleared. The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with IBM Rational Developer for System z V8.5.1.7 Fix Pack which is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=2294&uid=swg27006335
