Error description
On a system with German regional and language options installed, if you type the runmqsc commands "define sub" or "alter sub" then an incomplete AMQ8427 message is returned. The console output of the AMQ8427 message is missing the help section (it does not show the choice of valid commands). For example: def sub 1 : def sub AMQ8405: Syntaxfehler in oder bei folgendem Befehlssegment: def sub AMQ8427: Gultige Syntax fur den MQSC-Befehl: In the error log an AMQ6118 error is written and a FDC similar to the following may be created: Operating System :- Windows XP, Build 2600: SP3 PIDS :- 5724H7220 Product Long Name :- WebSphere MQ for Windows Vendor :- IBM Probe Id :- PC165006 Application Name :- MQM Component :- uscAutoFormatString SCCS Info :- lib/mqsc/amquerra.c, 1.5.11.1 UserID :- xxxx Process Name :- C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\bin\ runmqsc.exe QueueManager :- queuemanagername UserApp :- FALSE Major Errorcode :- xecF_E_UNEXPECTED_RC Minor Errorcode :- OK Probe Type :- MSGAMQ6118 Comment1 :- Error: Opening square bracket without closing one MQM Function Stack mqscMAIN uscRunScript uscRunCommand uscReturnSyntaxText uscAutoFormatString xcsFFST MQM Trace History -} xcsGetConsoleOutputCP rc=Unknown(352)

Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Users who use runmqsc with German regional and language options installed. Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: When building the command usage error message, runmqsc retrieves local translations for the tags used in the error message. In this case, there was a problem with the German translation for "generic_Q_Mgr_name", which is "generischer_WS-Manager". This translation was too long to be stored in a temporary buffer so it was truncated. This truncation was detected and reported in the FDC.
Problem conclusion
The code was corrected so that a suitably sized buffer was used to hold the translated tag. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.11 -------- -------------------- Windows 7.0.1.11 AIX 7.0.1.11 HP-UX (PA-RISC) 7.0.1.11 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.0.1.11 Solaris (SPARC) 7.0.1.11 Solaris (x86-64) 7.0.1.11 iSeries 7.0.1.11 Linux (x86) 7.0.1.11 Linux (x86-64) 7.0.1.11 Linux (zSeries) 7.0.1.11 Linux (Power) 7.0.1.11 v7.1 Platform Fix Pack 7.1.0.3 -------- -------------------- Windows 7.1.0.3 AIX 7.1.0.3 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.1.0.3 Solaris (SPARC) 7.1.0.3 Solaris (x86-64) 7.1.0.3 iSeries 7.1.0.3 Linux (x86) 7.1.0.3 Linux (x86-64) 7.1.0.3 Linux (zSeries) 7.1.0.3 Linux (Power) 7.1.0.3 Platform v7.5 -------- -------------------- Multiplatforms 7.5.0.2 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
