Device Firmware and microcode on DVD-ROM

You can download the DVD-ROM image to burn your own "Microcode Update Files and Discovery Tool DVD-ROM".

You must have access to a DVD-RW drive and software that is capable of creating a DVD from an ISO image.

Notes:

  • The Fix Central web page always contains the most current I/O microcode. It is recommended that the date of the microcode level needed (on the Fix Central web page) gets compared with the image create dates listed on the readme file prior obtaining these images.
This image is in ISO 9660 format.

The microcode change history is available in the DVD and microcode update information table. The table also includes the file sizes and cksum values of the iso image.

The option to order these images from IBM is no longer available. They are only available for downloading.

Using the Microcode Discovery Tools

Follow these steps to use the Microcode Discovery Tools on this DVD

  1. Running the Microcode Discovery Tool requires a user ID whose primary group is "system".
  2. Use the following command to check the primary group setting for a user ID: 
    /usr/sbin/lsuser <user id>
  3. If necessary, create a user ID whose pgroup is "system".
  4. Mount the DVD-ROM by entering the following command: 
    mount -v cdrfs -r /dev/cd0 /cdrom
