IT38049: LICENSE REPORT INCORRECTLY COUNTS TOTAL NUMBER OF USERS FOR MICROSOFT 365 PROTECTION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When the same Microsoft 365 user is protected in both OneDrive
  and Outlook, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus License report counts the
  same user twice and displays in the field Total number of users
  under Microsoft 365 Protection section. The Microsoft 365
  license is based on user license. It does not matter if
  protection is run in OneDrive or Outlook or both. To see if
  there are proper number of licenses, the unique users should be
  counted.

Problem conclusion

• The IBM Spectrum Protect Plus License report has been modified
  to count M365 users more accurately.   Users with data protected
  under both Outlook and OneDrive will be counted as a single user
  rather than two.
