Error description

  • With TRUNC(BIN), a JSON GENERATE of a 5-digit data value into a
PIC S9(4) BINARY data item truncates the high order digit,
moving only the lower 4 of the 5 digits into the receiving field
(i.e. it aligns at the decimal point and then the left-most
digit is truncated). TRUNC(BIN) does not seem to be honored
with JSON GENERATE and the data is truncated to fit into its
    picture clause.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
In some cases the compiler was generating code that did not
respect the TRUNC(BIN) option in cases where the XML GENERATE
and JSON GENERATE statements were producing output from numeric
    COBOL data items.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler was changed to generate the correct code.
