APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Storage Insights probes against storage devices may
    experience a timeout due to the probe data processing taking
    longer than the allotted time for the probe to complete.
    
    In these situations, the Storage Insights data collector
    successfully gathers all probe data from the device and uploads
    it to Storage Insights; Storage Insights then takes too long to
    process the received data, and thus the probe is marked as
    failed or task expired.
    
    Internally this is logged as follows:

Local fix

  • To increase the probe timeout a new property can be
    added to:
    
    <DC_INSTALL>\conf\setup.properties
    
    probeTimeout =  <value_in_ms>;
    
    For example, to set 120 minutes in ms:
    
    probeTimeout = 7200000;
    
    
    Following the change a Data Collector restart is needed.
