(https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/baw/20.x?topic=branches-enabling)
doesn't inform users that the "Let users create branches" option
 is available only when your preferences are set to the Advanced
 mode.

For access to advanced views in IBM Workflow Center and to
perform administrative actions, such as managing connections,
users, user groups, permissions, and creating branches, you must
be in the Advanced mode.
