Prerequisites and co-requisites

General description 

This support requires installation of several products or product elements.  The goal is to allow metric collection to flow from an IBM ITM V6 monitoring agent to the IBM Monitoring Instana Integration service and on to the Instana server via the Instana host agent with the APM Proxy sensor.

The IBM Monitoring Instana Integration Service is intended to be used with IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0.7 SP 1 or later.  The ITM agents must be patched to the 6.3.0.7 SP 1  level (or higher) of the core framework (aka TEMA) for this preview.

The Instana server must be at level 209 or higher.

The ibm-apmproxy sensor must be at level 1.0.7 or higher.  Note that although the Instana documentation indicates this sensor is for use with IBM APM V8, it is being reused by this solution.

The IBM Monitoring Integration Component can be deployed to one of the following environments:
  • OpenShift Container Platform, versions 4.6.41 or 4.8.13
  • MicroK8S 1.21 (stable)
Known issues
There are no known issues at this time.
Known limitations

The support forwards a subset of metrics collected by the supported ITM V6 agents.

The supported ITM V6 agents at the time of General Availability are:

  • Linux OS
  • Windows OS
  • Unix OS on AIX
  • IBM DataPower
Installation information
