APAR status

Error description

  • When running WASPreUpgrade from a remote migration jar on a
    RHEL 8 system, WASPreUpgrade prints the following to stderr:
    
    (Ootpa): integer expression expected
    
    This does not affect the outcome of migration.

    The WASPreUpgrade.sh script in the 8.5.5 remote migration jar
    is checking the version of RHEL in order to determine if it
    needs to run certain commands. It does this by consulting the
    file /etc/redhat-release. The problem occurs because the
    script is hard coded to look for the 7th token, which used to
    be the version number, but Red Hat changed the contents of the
    file to remove a word, so the 7th token is no longer a number.
    The message is harmless and does not affect migration.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Migration was adjusted to find the version number regardless
    of its position in the file.
    
    The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
    8.5.5.21. For more information, see 'Recommended Updates for
