Apple Remote Management (DEP) Profile Installation Failure

Question & Answer

Question

How do I resolve Apple Remote Management (DEP) Profile Installation Failure

Answer

When setting up a iOS device that is enrolled in Apple’s Device Enrollment Program you will receive a prompt to Allow Remote Management. If you receive a Profile Installation Failure notice when doing so, attempt the following:
  • Try setting up the Device on another Network.

  • Check if your APNs Certificate is Valid and up to date on both MaaS360 (Setup > Services > Mobile Device Management > APNs Certificate) and Apples Push Certificate Portal.

  • Check your DEP Token and confirm it is syncing and not expired (Devices > Enrollments > Other Enrollments Options > Apple Device Enrollment(DEP) > Tokens > Tokens). Follow the steps here if you need to Renew your DEP Token.

  • Verify the Devices Serial Number is listed within the MaaS360 Apple Device Enrollment records (Devices > Enrollments > Other Enrollments Options > Apple Device Enrollment(DEP)). If not, login to your Apple Business Manager Portal and check if your device is listed. Follow the steps here to Assign your device to the correct DEP Token if the device is listed in Apple Business Manager but not MaaS360.

  • Restore the device using Recovery Mode. If you used Apple Configurator 2 to push the DEP Profile you will need to Prepare the device after the Restore.

  • If the issue continues, please Contact Support.
