IT35459: The dmpmqcfg

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• While executing the dmpmqcfg command with client connection
  (-c), MQRC_ENVIRONMENT_ERROR (rc=2012) error is returned, when
   SHARECNV(0) is set on SVRCONN Channel definition used by
  dmpmqcfg.

Local fix

• When executing the  dmpmqcfg with the -c flag, use a SVRCONN
  channel with SHARECNV(1) or greater.
  

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  Users of MQ who uses "dmpmqcfg" to connect to a queue manager
  with client connection (-c) option and the SHARECNV is "0" on
  the SVRCONN channel definition in use.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  dmpmqcfg uses MQ's asynchronous consume feature to retrieve PCF
  responses from the command server. When SHARECNV(0) was set on
  the channel, aysnchronous consume operations are not available,
  and synchronous MQGET calls should be used instead. The dmpmqcfg
  utility failed to handle this scenario correctly, and
  incorrectly attempted an asynchronous operation, resulting the
  in the <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255,
  255)">MQRC_ENVIRONMENT_ERROR response.</span>
  

Problem conclusion

• The dmpmqcfg utility has been modified to revert to using MQGET
  API calls if asynchronous consume is not available.
