Error description
Although the other intrinsic date functions do honor the setting of the starting date based on the INTDATE(ANSI/LILIAN) compiler option, the INTEGER-OF-FORMATTED-DATE intrinsic function does not honor the INTDATE compiler option. Instead, the Language Reference at https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cobol-zos/6.3?topic=functions-intege r-formatted-date documents that it always uses the starting date of Jan 1, 1601, i.e. INTDATE(ANSI). This can cause unexpected results if INTDATE(LILIAN) is used. The INTEGER-OF-FORMATTED-DATE intrinsic function is being modified to honor the INTDATE compiler options to bring it in line with the other intrinsic date functions. The Language Reference will be updated as well to reflect this change.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL 6.3 compiling and * * running programs that are compiled with the * * INTDATE(LILIAN) compiler option in effect * * and the program uses the * * INTEGER-OF-FORMATTED-DATE intrinsic * * function. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Incorrect result. The return value of * * the INTEGER-OF-FORMATTED-DATE function * * is calculated as if the INTDATE(ANSI) * * compiler option were in effect. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the IBM-provided PTF. * **************************************************************** The INTEGER-OF-FORMATTED-DATE intrinsic function was not properly accounting for the INTDATE(LILIAN) compiler option.
Problem conclusion
The compiler was updated to ensure that it properly takes account of the INTDATE(LILIAN) compiler option when processing the INTEGER-OF-FORMATTED-DATE intrinsic function.
