Abstract
Configuration Management is automatically enabled for a project area in IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM) 7.0.2 after updating the OSLC Link/Attribute Mapping section of the project area. This project area change cannot be reversed, and this change could require other actions (for example: enabling linked Requirement project areas for configuration management, revising reports and document generation, testing or updating integrations, and training users).

There are two variants of this issue:
- Configuration management disabled project areas with the OSLC Link/Attribute Mapping project property (Manage This Project Area >> Uncategorized >> OSLC Link/Attribute Mapping) updated in ETM 6.0 – ETM 7.0.1 are configuration management enabled after upgrading to ETM 7.0.2.
- Configuration management disabled project areas created in ETM 7.0.2 are configuration management enabled after updating the OSLC Link/Attribute Mapping project property (Manage This Project Area >> Uncategorized >> OSLC Link/Attribute Mapping).
Note: Once Configuration Management is enabled for an ETM project area, it cannot be disabled.
This issue is being tracked as Defect 189874 and Defect 537098. To confirm whether Configuration Management for your project is enabled, see Enabling configurations in ELM 7.0.2 applications.
Resolution
Both the variants of this issue are fixed in 7.0.2 iFix004a or later. All upgrades to ETM 7.0.2 must have iFix004a or later installed before proceeding with the upgrade.
If you already upgraded to 7.0.2 and encountered this issue, then you must restore the databases to the pre-upgrade version for all Engineering Lifecycle Management applications and perform the upgrade again with 7.0.2 iFix004a or later in place.
The project area metadata viewer utility in ETM 7.0.2 may be used to identify any project areas that are enabled for configurations after upgrade. The utility can be accessed at https://<host>:<port>/<contextRoot>/projectAreaMetadata and displays a list of all the project areas in ETM 7.0.2 and if they are enabled for configuration management or not. Note: If you encounter this issue, it is recommended that you contact IBM support.
Note: Please open a support case with IBM if you encountered this issue after using ETM 7.0.2 for a while and you cannot roll back to pre-upgrade version.
