APAR status

Error description

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Oracle restore fails to apply the SCN
    (System Change Number) used in restore options. The restore
    will complete successfully, but the restore will not roll
    forward to the date and time specified in SCN (System Change
    Number). The SCN (System Change Number) gets truncated by three
    characters and this prevents the rollfoward from
    occurring

    Looking in the restore job log, you will see the
    SCN (System Change Number) referenced.
    
    In this example,
    1234567890123 is the SCN (System Change Number)
    
    Transaction ID
    (1234567890123) specified loading versions for
    
    Later on in the
    restore job log, you will see the SCN (System Change Number)
    referenced again but it will be truncated by 3 digits at the
    end.
    
    For example:
    
    Running command: recover database using
    backup controlfile until change 1234567890
    
    Notice the last
    thee digits "123" are missing.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM Spectrum Protect Plus agent will not truncate SCNs
