Question
This document explains how to configure SMTP to send mail to a mail router that listens on a port other than port 25.
Answer
At V7R1, PTF SI50216, and on V6R1, PTF SI50217 allows you to set a nonstandard port to be used when you send mail to a mail router listening on a port other than 25 (NOTE: This feature is available at GA for V7R2 and V7R3). To do this, you should follow the steps below:
1. | Stop the SMTP server: ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*SMTP) |
2. | Set a System level environment variable to set the port to communicate: ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(QIBM_SMTP_SERVER_PORT) VALUE('xxx') LEVEL(*SYS) Note: The string 'xxx' is the remote SMTP server port the IBM i SMTP Client will attempt to connect to. |
3. | Start the SMTP server: STRTCPSVR SERVER(*SMTP) |
