IT36363: AE IT33891 FIX COMPLETION DEVICE REMOVAL ALERTS TRIGGERED BY UNEXPECTED VALUES IN DS8K PROBE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Unexpected device removal alerts from Storage Insights were
  generated for the internal resources for a DS8000 after a daily
  probe completed. Internal resources are no longer listed for
  the storage device in Storage Insights and performance
  monitoring stopped collecting data.
  
  Example:
  Alert Storage
  System Deleted Volume has been triggered.
  
  The probe completed
  successfully but contained a warning.
   HWNEP1132W Can?t collect
  further system information because the device returned
  unexpected values.
  
  The underlying error was logged in
  traceProbe_ExternalProcess_0.log
  
  [EP_DS_CLI_Probe.getStorageServers] [ERROR] Retrieved empty
  MicrocodeLevel for lpar: <lpar>
  
  As a result of the empty
  microcode level, the probe did not collect all of the internal
  resources and sent alerts to indicate that they were no longer
  found. Since the FC ports were not found, performance
  monitoring stopped working. Restarting the data collection will
  start a new probe. If the condition causing the DS8000
  microcode level to be blank has been resolved on the storage
  side, the internal resources will be found and performance
  monitoring will resume after the probe completes.
  
  This APAR is
