Troubleshooting
Problem
View the properties of a measure in Transformer. Select the Type tab and Calculated radio button, then click on the Calculation button. The expression dialog is not presented.
Cause
Transformer was not 'run as Administrator'.
Diagnosing The Problem
We recommend that client tools such as Transformer or Framework Manager be run as Administrator.
The reason for this is that Transformer, and other client tools such as FM, require file system access to read/write temp files as well as perform other admin level actions on the system. Though the application may have been installed as an administrator, the user account that actually runs is the application is the one that matters in regards to how the application behaves on the system.
Resolving The Problem
When launching Transformer, select "Run as Administrator".
Note, to "Run as Administrator", right-click on the executable file and choose "Run as Administrator" option. However, if the Run as Administrator option is not listed then hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt as you right-click on the executable to show the full menu of options.
Alternatively, right-click on the executable file and choose "Properties", on the "Compatibility" tab, under "Privilege Level", tick "Run this program as an administrator" and click "Change settings for all users" if required.
