Troubleshooting
Problem
This document to the SNDPTFORD command to include image orders.
Resolving The Problem
SNDPTFORD includes the ability to choose the delivery format for the PTF order. By default, the delivery format is *SAVF; a *IMAGE option is available. This document notes the expected results for *IMAGE orders sent by using SNDPTFORD.
For more information on other parameters in the SNDPTFORD command, refer to the document Ordering PTFs Using the SNDPTFORD Command
For more information on other parameters in the SNDPTFORD command, refer to the document Ordering PTFs Using the SNDPTFORD Command
To use the SNDPTFORD command, the ECS/ESA service configuration steps need to be follow. Review document Configuration Instructions for Electronic Customer Support (ECS) and Electronic Service Agent (ESA) for IBM i
Prompting (F4) SNDPTFORD command shows the following values related to *IMAGE order:
Delivery format . . . *IMAGE DLVRYFMT |
*IMAGE PTFs are delivered through the electronic customer support service link as optical image files. Optical image files contain PTFs and cover letters. The optical image file is stored in the directory specified by the IMGDIR parameter. |
Image option . . . *DOWNLOAD IMGOPT |
*DOWNLOAD The optical image can be ordered and downloaded automatically when the optical image is ready to download. |
Image directory . . . *DFT IMGDIR |
*DFT The optical image files are stored in /QIBM/UserData/OS/Service/ECS directory. path-name Specify an existing directory. |
Image prefix . . . *SRVPVD IMGPFX |
*SRVPVD The files will be named by the Service Provider. Character-value Specify the prefix that will be used when naming the optical images being stored. If multiple images are received under one order, the files will be uniquely identified by a numerical suffix on the image name. |
Image catalog . . . *NONE IMGCLG |
*NONE
No image catalog will be created. Name
Specify the name that will be used when creating the image catalog. If the image catalog already exists, it will be used to store the images that are downloaded. |
Example of ordering a Cumulative PTF using SNDPTFORD:
SNDPTFORD PTFID((*CUMPKG)) DLVRYFMT(*IMAGE) IMGOPT(*DOWNLOAD) IMGDIR('/fixes')
IMGPFX(*SRVPVD) IMGCLG(PTFS)
Notes:
1. | Message CPC8C10 is sent to the job that issue the SNDPTFORD. This message notes when the QESECIMG job will attempt to start downloading the order. This message can be issued several times if the order is not available. |
2. | Message CPZ8C15 is issued when the download is complete. The actual download can take several hours if the size of the order is large. Download complete messages are sent to message queue QSERVICE |
3. | In the example, the /fixes directory is used. It needs to first be created, as the SNDPTFORD command does not create it. If the default selection (*DFT) is used, the fixes would go to the /QIBM/UserData/OS/Service/ECS directory. |
4. | In the example, image catalog PTFS is used. If does not previously exist, it is created. |
Example of images received (image prefix by default):
C9311730.txt STMF
C9311730_1.bin STMF
C9311730_2.bin STMF
S7176.TXT STMF
S7176V01.BIN STMF
S7176V02.BIN STMF
S7176V03.BIN STMF
Notes:
1. | The images were downloaded to the '/fixes' directory in the Integrated File System (IFS), per the selection in the SNDPTFORD command. In the command, the prefix can be changed in the image prefix parameter. For example, set IMGPFX(CUML). These two parameters can remain at the defaults. |
2. | CXXXXXXX_X.bin is the cumulative images. Each *.bin is equivalent to another DVD. |
3. | SXXXXXXX.BIN is the HIPER and Database groups, that are automatically sent with a Cumulative PTF order. |
4. | The *.bin and *.BIN can be used because this is not case-sensitive. |
