Error description

  • This is evidenced by a general slowing of DB2 workloads until
DB2 recycle is required. The looping in DB2 is preceded by
looping in QM modules CQMMSQ71 or CQMMSQ81 which is a result of
    either:

    * CQM being deactivated.
In this case we are talking about deactivating the
Monitoring Agent. This is done by:
       - selecting option M. (Work with Monitoring Agents)
from the main "IBM DB2 Query Monitor" panel,
       - then entering a D-(Deactivate) next to a Monitoring
         Profile.
    * or CQM not getting fully installed.
We have seen this situation where QM is at a lower
dispatch priority than DB2 so QM can not keep up
with DB2 processing. Without this APAR QM may not
fully install itself opening a window for this
      looping problem.

Local fix

  • * Shut down CQM (as opposed to deactivation) and
    * Set QM dispatch priority to that of DB2.
