Troubleshooting
Problem
When running Active Reports from Cognos, abnormally large .mht output files are being generated. This makes the .mht files difficult to open as they take longer to process.
Diagnosing The Problem
This can be caused by having accessibility features turned on in the user preferences. When this is enabled, Cognos embeds additional objects in the report output to allow for accessibility features such as keyboard-only operation, screen readers, and more.
Resolving The Problem
If accessibility features are not required, this can be disabled in the user preferences.
- Go to My Preferences (click the small person icon in the top right)
- On the General tab, confirm whether the 'Turn on accessibility features' checkbox is selected
- If it is selected, de-select it
The active report .mht files should now be 5x-6x smaller in size.
