Error description

  • -in ZEXPL, switch to the z/OS perspective
    - from <VM30094>/u/dantec/JVMProfs, I edit Copy of
    EYUCMCIJ3.jvmprofile
    - right click on the file shows Transfer Mode ASCII and octal
value 775 (this one I don't know if it is important and I don't
    think so...but
we notice that some files are 775, some 666. They were copied
into the directory alltogether though, coming from the same
    directory)
    - double click, remove anything (just one character or one word,
right click -> Save AS -> give new name
    - Reopen the file. It is correctly displayed
    - open it from iSPF iShell. it is correctly displayed
    - from ZEPL, right click -> change ASCII to BINARY, reopen. It
is correctly displayed. let it open there
    - reopen from iShell. it is correctly displayer too.
    - from ZEXPL, remove another character/another word, Ctrl+S,
    close
    - reopen from ZEXPL. THIS TIME IT IS EMPTY
    - reopen from iShell. This time it is empty
    - from ZEXPL, change property back to DEFAULT or ASCII, then
    reopen. Still empty

Local fix

  • Use the Remote System Explorer

Problem summary

  • When changing the file transfer mode from ASCII -> BINARY and
then saving the file is no longer readable in the text editor
    when opened.

Problem conclusion

  • Updated getFileHFS() -> RSEConnection.java to retrieve the fie
    contents using the FileServiceSubSystem (DStoreFileService)
wrapper. Added a check in saveFileHFS() -> RSEConnection.java
    using IFileService.TEXT or IFileService.ASCII comparison.

Temporary fix
