Verify installation media files for FileNet Content Manager have not been altered

Question & Answer

Question

How do I verify installation media files for FileNet Content Manager were not altered?

Cause

When downloading the installation media for FileNet Content Manager, it is possible that the the files may be corrupted by a network issue during the download. The files may also be altered in other ways, such as by a disk error after downloading or intentionally by a third party. Users who are concerned about the possibility of the installation media files being modified may wish to confirm that they are the original unaltered files.

Answer

Important files in the FileNet Content Manager installation media have been signed so that the files can be verified to not have been altered.  Some files, such as .zip files (used for Windows installation media) and Windows .exe files have their signatures embedded inside the signed files.  Other files, such as tar.gz/tgz files (used for AIX, Linux, and zLinux installation media) contain separate signature files.  Instructions for how to verify the signatures for signed files, as well as the separate signature files and related files, can be found at the GitHub repository fncm-code-signing-signature-files.
