IBM Support

Setting server connection authentication for Decisions components

How To

Summary

If your IBM Digital Business Automation for Cloud subscription includes Decisions components, you must make the server connections.

Objective

Digital Business Automation on Cloud (DBAoC) delivers key cloud services for automating repetitive human tasks, content management, process workflows, data capture, and business decisions. IBM creates and maintains the subscriptions to DBAoC, freeing you to concentrate on developing competitive solutions for your organization.
When a subscription for DBAoC includes the Decisions components, you must create the connections to the Decision Center servers. This task is done by the administrator of your subscription at your company.

Steps

Procedure

  1. Create a service credential in your portal (see Creating and managing service accounts). You must have the administrator role to create the credential.
  2. Open Access Management, and then the service credential.
  3. Assign the service credential access to your portal environment (development, test or production), and select Operator under Decision Server Role.
  4. Open Decision Center Business console > Administration > Servers.
  5. Click the + button to create a connection for Rule Execution Server in your portal environment. This server runs the decision services for client applications.
  6. Set the URL for the server to the following address:
    https://icp4adeploy-odm-decisionserverconsole:9443/res
  7. Ensure that Use OpenID Connect is not selected.
  8. Enter the ID and password of the service credential, select Deployment for Usage, and then save your changes.
  9. In the Servers tab, click + to create a connection to the Decision Runner server in the same environment. This server is used in tests and simulations in the Business console.
  10. Set the URL of the server to the following address:
    https://icp4adeploy-odm-decisionrunner:9443/DecisionRunner
  11. Ensure that Use OpenID Connect is not selected.
  12. Enter the ID and password of the service credential, select Test and simulation for Usage, and then save your changes.
Now, you can run Decision Center with the servers.

Additional Information

  • You might get an authentication error if you click the Play button in the Business console to test a connection to a defined server. Despite this error, you can still deploy assets by using the server definition.
  • To deploy a decision service from Decision Center in the development environment to Rule Execution Server in the test or run environment, export the decision service, and then import it into the target environment.
