Error description

  • Changing in-basket sort order of work items during runtime from
the sort order defined during design time, the "Open next work
item" action will fail to retrieve subsequent work items in the
    new sort order.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Create multiple sortable columns in the in-basket, set Time
    Create Ascending as default
    2. In the Work Details page, add the "Open Next Work Item" to
    the Work Item Toolbar
    3. Deploy the solution
    4. Create several cases, 4 or 5 should suffice
    5. Sort the in-basket by a different column such that the order
is different than the default sort order
    6. Ensure new sort order is not the same order as default sort
    order
    7. Open and complete the first item from the newly sorted list

    Expected result
The next item on the new sort order is presented to the user to
    process

    Actual result
The next item from the previous default sort order is presented
    to the user to process

Problem conclusion

  • This issue has been corrected in 5.2.1.6-ICM-FP006 and later
releases. The automatic get next will retrieve the next work
item based on the current order of the work items from the
    in-basket.
